Head of Technology and Operations

About the role

Middle East College (MEC) in Muscat is seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Technology and Operations to lead its technology function. The role sits at the intersection of education, technology and innovation, responsible for shaping and delivering digital solutions that support the institution’s educational philosophy.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the design, implementation and maintenance of core IT systems and infrastructure, ensuring reliability and security.
• Develop and execute IT strategies, optimise operational processes and manage budgets and resources.
• Translate educational requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions in partnership with academic and senior leadership.
• Coordinate cross‑functional implementation of technology initiatives across departments and campus stakeholders.
• Ensure data governance and cybersecurity compliance with best‑practice standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage relationships with technology vendors, partners and consultants to secure quality delivery and value for money.

Required profile

• Proven senior technology leadership experience, preferably within higher education or a closely related environment.
• Strong understanding of academic operations, learning management systems and the role of technology in pedagogy.
• Demonstrated experience in solution architecture aligning technical design with institutional goals.
• Practical knowledge of artificial intelligence and large language models applied in an educational context.
• Experience managing and developing technical teams.
• Solid grounding in data protection and cybersecurity principles.
• Excellent stakeholder management and cross‑functional coordination skills.
