Legal Advisor

About the role

The Legal Advisor supports the bank by ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations and by mitigating legal risks. The role provides expert legal counsel across corporate, commercial, contractual and operational matters, helping the institution achieve its business objectives while maintaining robust governance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and guidance to business units and support functions on corporate, commercial, contractual, and operational issues.
• Draft, review, negotiate and interpret contracts, agreements, memoranda of understanding, NDAs, service agreements, procurement contracts and other legal documents to protect the bank’s interests.
• Assess commercial transactions, strategic projects and business initiatives for legal risks and recommend mitigation measures before execution.
• Ensure that contracts, transactions and business activities comply with relevant laws, regulatory requirements and internal governance frameworks.
• Support strategic initiatives, outsourcing arrangements, technology projects, partnerships and other corporate transactions with legal and regulatory advice throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain legal templates, precedents and contract‑management practices to improve consistency and efficiency.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments, evaluate their impact on the bank’s operations and recommend appropriate actions.
• Assist in managing litigation, arbitration and dispute‑resolution matters, coordinating with external counsel and reviewing case documentation.
• Prepare legal opinions, memoranda, reports and presentations, and deliver legal awareness training to employees.
