Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading power generation client in Oman. The role focuses on the installation, commissioning, operation, and upkeep of Caterpillar CAT 3516 gas engine generator sets, ensuring reliable and efficient plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform periodic preventive and corrective maintenance on CAT gas engines and auxiliary systems.
• Install, commission, and conduct operational checks for CAT 3516 generator sets.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues in gas engines, compressors, cooling systems, and auxiliary units.
• Execute major overhauls, including top‑end and bottom‑end servicing of CAT 3516 engines.
• Monitor engine performance parameters, identify abnormalities, and maintain detailed maintenance records.
• Coordinate with operations and electrical teams to support smooth plant activities.
• Plan, requisition, and manage spare parts inventory for mechanical systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• 10–12 years of hands‑on experience in mechanical maintenance of gas‑based power generation plants.
• CAT factory‑trained and certified for operation and maintenance of CAT 3516 gas engines.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, capable of working independently in remote plant locations.
