PAUT Inspector – Offshore NDT Specialist

About the role

The PAUT Inspector will perform, evaluate, and report Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing on welded joints and critical components during offshore construction and installation. The role ensures compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, client requirements, and strict offshore HSE standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct PAUT inspections on offshore piping welds (CS/SS/CRA), structural welds, nodes, pressure vessels, and pipelines.
• Follow approved PAUT procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and offshore work packs.
• Set up and calibrate PAUT equipment, including probes, wedges, encoders, and scanners, using reference blocks and project‑specific standards.
• Acquire and analyse data with PAUT software, interpreting A‑Scan, B‑Scan, C‑Scan and S‑Scan results.
• Detect, evaluate, and size discontinuities such as lack of fusion, lack of penetration, cracks, porosity, and inclusions.
• Prepare accurate PAUT reports, scan plans, data files, and repair/re‑inspection documentation, ensuring full traceability.
• Support mechanical completion, pre‑commissioning, and dossier hand‑over activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience performing PAUT inspections on offshore welding projects.
• Familiarity with offshore HSE standards and relevant inspection codes.
• Ability to produce detailed inspection reports and maintain traceability records.

Required skills

• Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) operation and calibration.
• Use of PAUT software for data acquisition and analysis.
• Interpretation of A‑Scan, B‑Scan, C‑Scan and S‑Scan data.
• Detection of welding discontinuities (lack of fusion, lack of penetration, cracks, porosity, inclusions).
• Setup of phased array probes, wedges, encoders, and scanners.
