Preventive Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical

About the role

The Preventive Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical will oversee the performance and reliability of mechanical equipment on drilling rigs. You will lead the Mechanical Preventive Maintenance (PM) system, ensure compliance with industry standards, and drive continuous improvement across all maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and measure operational performance of mechanical equipment, identifying improvement opportunities.
• Supervise the Mechanical PM system (predictive, preventive, corrective) and audit work orders for quality and timeliness.
• Conduct rig inspections, maintain inspection records, and support maintenance superintendents and drilling operations.
• Investigate equipment failures, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement remedial actions.
• Manage resources to minimise non‑productive time (NPT) and oversee major overhauls of drilling equipment.
• Develop and enforce technical standards within the company’s management system.
• Lead and evaluate rig mechanical maintenance staff, handling promotions, salary changes, transfers, and terminations.
• Control mechanical material and repair costs, and close out maintenance financially (service entry, accrual).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in rig or industrial environments.
• Proven ability to lead teams, evaluate performance, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Required skills

• Predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance methodologies.
• Root‑cause analysis and failure investigation.
• Knowledge of API and ISO industry standards.
• Maintenance management systems and rig mechanical equipment inspection.
• Material cost control and financial close‑out processes (service entry, accrual).
