Procurement Manager – Food Commodities

About the role

The client is a growing commodities trading and distribution business in Oman seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead sourcing and procurement of key food commodities such as sugar, rice, palm oil and edible oils. The role will develop international supplier relationships, negotiate commercial terms and ensure a reliable, cost‑effective supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies for sugar, rice, palm oil, edible oils and related food commodities.
• Identify, evaluate and onboard reliable international suppliers, manufacturers, mills, refineries and traders.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships across key sourcing markets.
• Negotiate price, payment terms, MOQ, quality specifications, delivery schedules and contractual terms.
• Monitor global commodity prices, market movements, supply‑demand trends, freight costs and currency fluctuations.
• Manage the full procurement cycle from sourcing and quotation through contracting, purchase orders, shipment and delivery.
• Coordinate with shipping and freight partners on import documentation, shipment schedules and delivery.
• Evaluate supplier performance on price, quality, reliability and delivery.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, supplier databases, contracts and purchase commitments.
• Prepare regular reports on purchase prices, commodity trends, savings, supplier performance, inventory and upcoming requirements.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and Oman import, food safety and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• 8–12+ years of procurement experience, preferably in food commodities, FMCG, food trading, distribution or import/export.
• Hands‑on experience with sugar, rice, palm oil, edible oils or similar commodities.
• Established network of international commodity suppliers or traders is highly advantageous.
• Strong understanding of commodity pricing, international sourcing, import/export and shipping processes.
• Excellent commercial negotiation and supplier management skills.
