Scaffolding Engineer – Design, Site Supervision & Safety

About the role

The Scaffolding Engineer will be responsible for the design, erection, inspection and safe dismantling of scaffolding systems on construction sites. You will work closely with project teams to ensure that all scaffold works meet client specifications, regulatory standards and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Review project drawings and specifications, prepare scaffold designs, layouts and erection drawings.
• Perform load calculations, select appropriate scaffold systems and verify foundation conditions.
• Supervise scaffold erection, modification, inspection and dismantling on site, ensuring compliance with approved drawings and method statements.
• Conduct pre‑hand‑over inspections, tag scaffolds, and carry out periodic checks after weather events or modifications.
• Prepare and maintain inspection reports, handover certificates, method statements, risk assessments and material take‑offs.
• Coordinate manpower, materials and equipment with construction, maintenance and shutdown teams.
• Support the estimation team with quantity estimates, BOQs and technical proposals.
• Ensure all scaffold activities comply with HSE requirements and participate in safety meetings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in scaffold engineering, design and site supervision.
• Strong knowledge of relevant standards such as EN 12810, EN 12811 and BS 5975.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and perform accurate load calculations.
• Excellent coordination skills with construction, HSE and client teams.
