Senior Piping Designer – Mechanical & Piping Projects

About the role

Worley is seeking a Senior Piping Designer to lead the creation of high‑quality mechanical and piping drawings for energy, chemicals and resources projects. The role combines technical expertise with team leadership to ensure design outputs meet industry standards and project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform layout studies and finalize plot plans.
• Develop and produce mechanical and piping layout drawings, including 2D isometrics.
• Interpret General Arrangement (GA) drawings and create demolition GA drawings from Process Engineering Flow Schemes.
• Apply piping layout standards, equipment spacing codes, and develop material take‑offs (MTO) for 2D isometrics and 3D execution.
• Coordinate design interfaces across disciplines and conduct thorough quality checks.
• Manage and mentor a team of designers/draftspersons, ensuring schedule adherence.
• Conduct field surveys as needed and ensure all design documents are completed within allocated project hours.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in Engineering.
• At least 15 years of experience in an engineering design firm.
• Minimum 10 years of oil & gas facility design experience, covering front‑end and detailed design.
• Strong knowledge of company standards, Shell Group DEPs and international engineering standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Strong 3D CAD skills, preferably PDMS or E3D.
• Experience creating isometric drawings and material take‑offs.
• Familiarity with piping layout standards and equipment spacing codes.
