Teacher of Business and Economics (to A-Level) - Head of Department

About the role

Knowledge Gate International School (KGIS), a premium British-style school in the Sultanate of Oman serving expatriate and local students, is looking for a Teacher of Business Studies and Economics to join in January 2027. The successful candidate will also hold the Head of Department responsibility, managing a small team of teachers while delivering their own teaching. The school is described as community-focused, with a strong reputation for its pedagogical approach, staff development and examination results.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that match the school's curriculum, policies and external assessment requirements, differentiating learning so every student makes outstanding progress.
• Assess students' in-class and at-home learning regularly and give targeted feedback to drive progress.
• Create a classroom and school environment where students feel valued, supported and ready to take risks in their learning.
• Work closely with colleagues, share best practice and pursue your own professional development.
• Take part in the school's co-curricular programme, from leading clubs to contributing to wider school initiatives.
• Maintain open, constructive communication with parents to build strong partnerships for students' progress.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for education and for the subject, with the ability to engage and motivate young people.
• Proven track record of excellence in personal, academic and professional achievements.
• Expertise in assessing student progress, giving targeted feedback and supporting performance in external assessments.
• Experience in pastoral care and promoting student wellbeing, with a focus on individual attention.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a record of building positive relationships with families.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills, able to plan, prioritise and work under pressure.

Required skills

• PGCE, QTS or equivalent, with excellent academic credentials and, ideally, evidence of post-graduate study.
