Unit Head - Operational Risk Management

About the role

The Unit Head of Operational Risk Management will lead the bank's Operational Risk Management (ORM) function. This senior position is responsible for embedding a strong risk culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing the control framework across all business units.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and continuously improve ORM frameworks, policies, and strategies in line with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
• Develop, maintain and govern ORM tools such as Risk and Control Self‑Assessment (RCSA), Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), loss data management and scenario analysis.
• Monitor operational risk exposures, emerging risks and control weaknesses, escalating issues to senior management and governance committees.
• Oversee risk mitigation action plans, ensuring accountability, timely closure and sustainable resolution of high‑risk issues.
• Ensure full compliance with Basel requirements, local regulations and internal risk policies, including timely reporting.
• Promote a strong risk culture by raising awareness and encouraging ownership of operational risks at all levels.
• Provide advisory support to business units on risk identification, control design and mitigation strategies.
• Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the Business Continuity Management (BCM) framework, including Business Impact Analyses.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in operational risk management within a banking or financial services environment.
• Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as Basel and local supervisory requirements.
• Proven ability to lead large, cross‑functional teams and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong analytical mindset with a track record of developing and enhancing risk control frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills to convey risk concepts and drive cultural change.
