Associate/Research Analyst

About the role

The Central Bank of Oman is looking for a motivated Omani candidate to join the Economic Research Department as an Associate/Research Analyst. The role focuses on compiling and enhancing the Primary Income Account of the Balance of Payments and improving the quality of external sector statistics.

Key responsibilities

• Support the compilation, validation, and development of the Current Account under the Balance of Payments on a quarterly and annual basis.
• Analyze and scrutinize International Transaction Reporting System (ITRS) data, perform validation checks, identify reporting errors, and follow up with reporting entities.
• Contribute to the ITRS Enhancement Project by improving data quality, business validation rules, documentation, and reporting frameworks.
• Disseminate external sector statistics through CBO publications such as the Annual Report, Monthly Bulletin, and international organization requests.
• Coordinate with external agencies to obtain data for compilation and enhancement of external sector statistics.
• Prepare notes, studies, presentations, and other materials as required.

Required profile

• Graduate or postgraduate degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Accounting, Banking, Data Analytics, or related field.
• 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in central banks, statistical agencies, financial institutions, or similar entities.
• Professional qualifications or certifications in banking, finance, external sector statistics, macroeconomic statistics, or data analytics.

Required skills

• Proficiency with statistical and data analysis tools.
• Experience using econometric software such as STATA or EViews.
• Knowledge of business intelligence (BI) tools.
