Category Manager - tMart Grocery

About the role

Delivery Hero is looking for a Category Manager to grow its own Grocery Store, tMart, the region's first cloud store concept offering 30-minute delivery of groceries at hypermarket prices. The service has expanded across Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Oman and Iraq. The role carries full ownership of the category management function.

Key responsibilities

• Own the category management role across assortments, pricing, offers and supply
• Monitor economic performance of assigned departments and categories against sales, gross margin, P&L and the company's commercial strategy
• Implement the commercial strategy, including the categories plan and pricing strategy
• Support the Ops team with flows, adjacencies, tools, templates and fixtures
• Review and resolve issues with local suppliers
• Define and maintain the local assortment, integrate the basic assortment and provide regional teams with product and quantity information for international and regional contracts
• Select local suppliers, negotiate and purchase according to cost price, discounts, rebates and payment terms
• Pricing: set prices per guidelines for PL and imported items, collect market prices and run country price audits
• Promotions: identify local promo products, price them, submit forecasting and reordering data, build the country promotion calendar and follow up execution
• Analyse consumer preferences, local competitors and trends to improve promotions

Required profile

• At least 5+ years of experience developing and managing multiple product categories in large retailers (FMCG) in an international setting
• Experience building teams and leading cross-functional projects at scale
• Detail-oriented, structured and able to prioritise, delivering solutions rather than bottlenecks
• Able to interact with senior executives and manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders
• Willing to work hands-on, including on the warehouse floor or taking customer calls when short-staffed
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with strong interpersonal and intercultural abilities
• Fluent English and Arabic highly advantageous
