Director of Sales & Distribution

About the role

Courtyard By Marriott is looking for a Director of Sales & Distribution who leads and manages the day-to-day sales function, focusing on long-term, value-based customer relationships that help reach property sales objectives. The role also involves achieving personal booking goals and recommending booking goals for direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the sales leader and management team to define and implement a sales plan covering revenue, customers and the market, and support the development of internal and external promotions.
• Drive maximum revenue through personal booking goals and by recommending booking goals for sales team members.
• Monitor day-to-day activities of direct reports, approve space release for catering in the absence of a Business Evaluation Manager, and take part in sales calls to win and close business.
• Handle the operational side of booked business such as proposals, contracts and customer correspondence.
• Analyse market data with sales systems, help Revenue Management complete six-period projections, and review guest satisfaction results for sales and catering.
• Lead guest hospitality, gather feedback from guests and at pre- and post-convention meetings, and embed guest satisfaction into department meetings.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including off-property sales channels, and attend customer events, trade shows and sales missions.
• Work with Human Resources, Engineering and Loss Prevention on regulatory and union compliance.
• Hire management and hourly staff and use on-the-job training tools.

Required profile

• Either a 2-year degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management or a related field with 3 years of sales and marketing experience, preferably in the Oman market or with Marriott resort experience in the GCC.
• Or a 4-year bachelor's degree in a related field with 1 year of sales and marketing experience.
