Senior Accountant - Insurance Broking Finance

About the role

Lockton is hiring a Senior Accountant to join its team in Oman. The role handles the full spectrum of day-to-day finance and accounting for the Oman entity, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, insurance broking finance (IBA and Non-IBA), tax filings, compliance, audits, budgeting support and cash flow monitoring. It is a hands-on position for a self-sufficient accountant able to run the finance function in a lean, operational setup.

Key responsibilities

• Core accounting and reporting: journal entries, general ledger postings and month-end closings, IFRS-compliant records, monthly financial reports, revenue forecasts and cost allocations, and audit-ready balance sheets.
• Reconcile monthly revenue for Employee Benefits (EB) and General Insurance (GI); generate and review monthly unallocated cash reports.
• Payables, receivables and treasury: process supplier invoices and payments, reconcile supplier statements and bank accounts, prepare cash flow forecasts and liaise with banks.
• Insurance broking finance: allocate insurance receipts and disbursements, reconcile insurer accounts and commission receivables, maintain credit control and review IBA balances monthly.
• Tax and compliance: assist with corporate tax provisions and filings, submit VAT and WHT returns on time, coordinate audits and meet regulatory requirements including XBRL.
• Budgeting and forecasting: support annual budgets and periodic forecasts, monitor performance against budget and explain variances.
• Maintain internal controls, segregation of duties and process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA or CMA preferred but not mandatory.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant finance or accounting experience.
• Experience in insurance, financial services or a regulated sector preferred.
• Good knowledge of Oman VAT and corporate tax regulations.
• Comfortable working in a small team with minimal supervision and good communication with auditors, banks and consultants.

Required skills

• Hands-on experience with ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Familiarity with intercompany transactions and multi-entity structures.
