Senior Specialist Financial Accounting

About the role

OQ is hiring a Senior Specialist Financial Accounting (grade Sr/ Specialist) in Muscat, reporting to the Manager Financial Accounting. The role covers non-standard accounting, month-end through year-end closing, consolidation and group reporting, and contributes to maintaining the Company Accounting Policy Manual. It works within the Finance RPI function, covering budget control for OPEX, CAPEX and revenue.

Key responsibilities

• Execute monthly, quarterly, half-year and year-end management and group reporting, including statutory and consolidation
• Prepare consolidated balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements and other financial statements
• Carry out closing processes, maintain close calendars and consolidation procedures and controls
• Build a consolidated reporting package covering OQ RPI, logistics, polymer marketing and international offices
• Work with internal, state and statutory auditors and prepare technical accounting papers on complex topics such as impairment, capitalization, investments, derivatives and mergers
• Execute pre-procurement activities, compile the financial accounting team's budget and monitor performance against it
• Contribute to the accounting manual and work with treasury, commercial, operations, legal and tax

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field; professional accounting certification desirable
• 6-8 years of relevant experience for Senior Specialist, 5+ years for Specialist
• Oil and gas / energy industry experience essential
• Exceptional written, spoken and reading English; native Arabic is desirable

• SAP and MS Office
• Proven effectiveness in accounts payable execution
• Experience in non-standard accounting and with third parties such as state audit, MoF, lenders and investors
